Full PDF Version - Click Here
Alis Decking Oil #579 is a water-resistant and open-pored oil for the treatment and care of decking, wooden facades, exterior furniture and other exterior timbers. It dries quickly and refreshes wooded surfaces. It does not chip, flake or require resanding to rejuvenate.
Oiling of decks should be carried out in the dryer months to ensure the timber is completely dry. Avoid winter application whenever possible.

PREPARATION
The surface must be absorbent, clean and dry. If necessary, clean prior with GLOUROS Cleaner No. 1806 to remove any greying, mould or algae build up. If an old varnish exists it may be necessary to sand this off. Do not use or store oils below 12 º.
APPLICATION
- YOU WILL NEED
- Mop/applicator or roller
- Paintbrush for edges and grooves
- Cloths or clean rags
- Paint tray (optional)
- Oil
- Air-tight sealed container for used rags/pads etc.
*****see safety information*****
1st Coat
Stir well. Using the paintbrush work the oil carefully along the edges, and between the boards. Then using the applicator apply in the direction of the wood grain. Be careful not to splash the oil as this could leave permanent marks on stones, walls or skirting boards.
After 10 minutes of saturation time (depending on temperature and humidity), remove or spread out any excess oil from the timber. If necessary, walk over the oil to the starting point and commence working from there. Move backwards over the area walked, this will remove any footprints and will not mark the deck surface. Dry around edges with clean absorbent rags, ensuring the timber is touch dry.
2nd Coat
(Next Day- if humid day 3)
Stir well. There is no need for sanding in between coats. Repeat the steps for 1st coat applying the oil thinly. Less oil will be used than for the previous coat. Work in or remove any excess oil after approximately 10 minutes.
If left too long or in direct sun, it may start to become tacky. If this happens, work in some more oil to dissolve it again and wipe it off. Leave overnight.
Decant any unused oil into a smaller container for future use.
The finished decking must not have a thick layer of oil on top of. The oils will impregnate the timber and seal from within, and not by creating a thick layer on top of the timber.
CARE & MAINTENANCE
Wash occasionally with a pH-neutral cleaner such as TRENA pH-Neutral Cleaner #556.
REJUVENATION
Ensure the surface is clean and dry. Apply 1 thin coat of the original oil used. If the timber has been left for too long without rejuvenating and it has started to “grey” wash with GLOUROS Cleaner # 1806 and apply 2 coats of ALIS Decking Oil #579.
SAFETY INFORMATION
Always be sure to store cleaning rags, sponges, carpet remnants, etc. that are still wet or even slightly moist with Livos oils in an airtight metal container or in water, as there is a danger of spontaneous combustion caused by the linseed oil in the product. The product alone will not undergo spontaneous combustion.
